APICS Northern Colorado Chapter members scored a win this week. Almost 50 members, customers and APICS practitioners came together for some first rate networking last Thursday in Boulder, CO at Boulder Beer brewery.
A brewery tour and the chance to network with others in the metro area made this event a success for many of our constituents. The folks at Boulder Beer made our event a perfect treat with great libations, awesome food, and tour of their facility. We were greeted with the aroma of hops as we toured the plant with the Brew Masters. We learned about three stages of adding hops to the brewing process and how the hops are sourced and used to create the many wonderful flavors. We enjoyed several varieties of hops as we sampled Boulder Beers unique brews.
The real success is in the networking as the tagline says; “Stay Connected”. APCIS NoCo believes we all benefit from talking with others in our field of operations and supply chain management. No matter what our primary role, whether IT, Operations, Sales, Engineering, Planning, Purchasing, Logistics or Service – just like the brewery, all the elements come together to create the final outcome. Understanding the way each other operates helps everyone make better decisions and creates the best end result. And the Boulder Beer Company has a tasty end result!
Jarrod Spivack from the APICS NoCo Board of Directors kicked off the event with a welcome and some introductions. Then we filled up our glasses and took the tour to see the stages of the brewing process. Back in the hospitality room we enjoyed some great quesadillas along with a steady supply of other yummies and of course Boulder Beer samples. APICS NoCo chapter CEO Jamey Miller shared a few announcements about events and programs of the APICS NoCo certifications and education schedules, please visit the website for the most up to date information.
I saw many smiles and heard a lot of buzz as folks made their way around the room. The feedback about the event was all positive;
“Thanks for the invitation and for sponsoring a great event! I really enjoyed the evening, and something we all needed. I met some great people, when is the next one”
“What a great event”
“Had a blast”
“when is the next one”…
APICS NoCo serves Colorado north of Denver, Wyoming and Nebraska. For more information see the latest event schedule on the chapter website, www.apicsnoco.org.

The concept of “peak oil” has been around for decades and is breaking out of the science community to reach those who are not necessarily scientists, but have a strong interest in understanding the issues that impact our world and our future. Many supply chain management professionals are beginning to take an interest in the topic, but we still have many challenges getting our profession to address how rising energy prices will have profound implications for the design of supply chain networks. Many of our supply chains have been developed with the assumption of low energy prices that will remain low relative to labor costs. |
